What is ABPM?
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) is a test that measures your blood pressure continuously over a 24-hour period while you go about your normal daily activities. It provides a more accurate picture of your blood pressure than a single reading taken in the clinic.
Why is ABPM Important?
-
Helps diagnose high blood pressure (hypertension) more accurately
-
Detects “white coat hypertension” (elevated readings only in a clinical setting)
-
Monitors effectiveness of blood pressure treatment
-
Provides data to guide your GP or specialist’s decisions
How Does the Test Work?
-
A small blood pressure monitor is attached to your wrist.
-
The device takes readings automatically every 15-30 minutes during the day and night.
-
You keep a diary of your activities and symptoms during the monitoring period.
-
After 24 hours, you return the device to the clinic for data analysis.
Price
-
The cost of the 24-hour ABPM service is €80.
