What is ABPM?

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) is a test that measures your blood pressure continuously over a 24-hour period while you go about your normal daily activities. It provides a more accurate picture of your blood pressure than a single reading taken in the clinic.

 

Why is ABPM Important?

• Helps diagnose high blood pressure (hypertension) more accurately

• Detects “white coat hypertension” (elevated readings only in a clinical setting)

• Monitors effectiveness of blood pressure treatment

How Does the Test Work?

• A small blood pressure monitor is attached to your wrist.

• The device takes readings automatically every 15-30 minutes during the day and night.
